Lemke Stone Inc., a family-owned business, was founded in 1965 by Arnold A. Lemke. From the beginning, Arnold—and later his sons, Mark and Kim—committed themselves to delivering exceptional quality and personal service to every customer.
The company’s story began after Arnie spent nine years working for a local stone company. Ready to build something of his own, he established the Arnie Lemke Stone Company and began delivering fieldstone directly from a gravel pit near Stevens Point, Wisconsin. As his customer base grew, he started stockpiling stone at another local yard. When the time was right, he purchased three acres of land in Lannon, WI—now home to our retail and fieldstone location.
For the next 37 years, Arnie and his wife, Peggy, operated the business together, hauling stone to landscape and masonry jobs across the Midwest. They built their reputation on providing quality products and exceptional customer service, values that remain at the core of Lemke Stone today.
In the mid-1970s, Arnie’s sons, Kim and Mark, joined the business, helping produce and deliver stone. In 1986, Arnie and his sons purchased an abandoned Lannon stone quarry on the west end of town. There they built a 10,000 sq. ft. saw shop equipped with a hydro splitter and two diamond-blade saws, and they brought on skilled stone cutters to expand into custom stone manufacturing.
A decade later, in 1996, Kim and Mark purchased the business from Arnie and renamed it Lemke Stone Inc. Arnie continued to work with the company until his retirement in 2000 at the age of 70. Under Kim and Mark’s leadership, the company continued to grow—they added another large building at the west location, installed additional diamond-blade saws, and expanded capabilities with a tumbler and thin veneer machine to meet increasing customer needs.
Today, the third generation carries on the family legacy. Jason, Kim’s son, and his wife, Jamie, became the sole owners of Lemke Stone in 2021. Jason has worked in every part of the company over the last 20+ years—learning production, sales, and trucking—while Jamie, who joined in 2020, manages the main office and day-to-day operations. Together, they continue to honor Arnie and Peggy’s guiding principle: “When price is long forgotten… our quality still remains.”
